Korg Zero4 en Zero8 firmware update

Er is een nieuwe firmware versie beschikbaar voor de Korg Zero4 en Zero8, het huidige versie nummer komt daarmee op versie 1.6. Veranderd zijn o.a. bij de Zero4 een betere intergratie met Traktor Scratch, het retriggeren van de loop sampler, veranderde cue balance curve, hogere gain op de line inputs en er is een monitor filter voor de pfl, handig wanneer je last hebt van het zaal geluid bij het cue'en. De firmware is gratis te downloaden en het upgraden van een unit gaat vrij gemakkelijk via firewire.

Korg Zero4 changes:

• Better Integration with NATIVE INSTRUMENTS TRAKTOR Scratch.
  Version 1.6 provides the ability to use time coded CDs in addition to time coded vinyl, and either can be effortlessly set up.
  Simply connect your turntables or CD players to your ZERO4 and connect the ZERO4 to your computer. _{* TRAKTOR Scratch is an optional component.}
• Automatic MIDI Clock Slave Function
  ZERO4 can now slave to MIDI clock from host applications and hardware instruments alike. ZERO4 recognizes incoming MIDI Clock from Firewire MIDI or MIDI input automatically, which provides perfect sync of internal effects and the loop sampler. When slaving to incoming MIDI clock, the BPM indicator will read “EXT”. Additionally, if the MIDI clock signal is interrupted for an extended period, the Zero 4 will switch to the internal clock. _{[Note] Auto BPM will not function when MIDI clock is received.}
• Re-trigger Loop Sampler
  The new Re-trigger function enables you to reset the start point of a loop sample. Simply press the KEEP button while LOOP PLAY or GATE PLAY is engaged. The update also allows you to toggle between LOOP PLAY and GATE PLAY by pressing one or the other.
• Higher gain on Line Inputs
  A +12dB pre gain has been added to the LINE input when LINE is selected via the INPUT SELECTOR knob. This allows for better gain adjustment when lower level devices are connected. In addition, the max. input level of the LINE terminal will be 10 dB.
• The Cue balance curve has been adjusted for more consistent monitoring.
  To improve cue monitoring, the level balance curve of CUE and MASTER for the MONITOR BAL knob has been that the CUE and MASTER volume levels reach the maximum level when the knob is centered.
• When CUE SPLIT is ON, the MASTER side of the level meter has been changed to Pre Fader.
  When CUE SPLIT is ON, the master level indicator, on the right side of the master level meter has been changed to pre (master) fader level.
• MUTE operation has been changed when AUDIO+MIDI is selected.
  The MUTE operation has been changed so that the FX ON/MUTE switch can be used as a MIDI controller by tilting it to the MUTE side when AUDIO+MIDI is
  selected. With this new setting, the sound will not be muted.
• A MONITOR FILTER has been added
  A filter for cutting high notes and super deep notes has been added to the headphone output. This makes monitoring via the headphones easy in loud locations like a DJ setup.

Korg Zero8 changes:

• Better Integration with NATIVE INSTRUMENTS TRAKTOR SCRATCH.
  The system supports TRAKTOR Scratch by NATIVE INSTRUMENTS. Connect a CD player equipped with a turntable or scratch function to the ZERO8. Then, you can use TRAKTOR Scratch for scratching the audio files stored in your computer. _{* TRAKTOR Scratch is an optional component.}
• An INPUT TRIM function has been added.
  An Input Trim screen has been added in the System menu. This allows you to adjust the Pre-Gain value of all Analog inputs independently for better gain adjustment to match each input source when a lower level device which tends to cause noises is connected.
• A SEND SETUP menu has been added.
  A new Send Setup menu in the System Menu allows you to set Ext. 1, Ext. 2 and Zero FX Pre or Post. The FireWire selection provides a new level of input management, and also allows for full duplex operation on the audio channels. Input selections can now be made from this screen while the Input knob in the FireWire Audio streaming mode. In essence, this means that audio can be sent to and from your computer on the same channel.
• A Transport button has been added to BPM page.
  Transport Control Buttons now appear one the TEMPO screen, which allow you to send Start/Stop messages to any DAW host application running in slave mode.
• Selectable MIDI Clock slave function.
  A MIDI CLOCK setting page has been added to the SETUP/SYSTEM menu. Zero8 can now slave to MIDI clock from host applications and hardware instruments alike. ZERO8 recognizes incoming MIDI clock from Firewire MIDI or MIDI input automatically, which provides perfect sync of internal effects.
• All effect programs can be selected in the SEND effect mode.
  PRE and POST settings have been added to the send effect settings accessible via the SETUP menu. KAOSS-style control of various effects ? as already implemented in the Master and Channel effects - has been added to the Send FX section as well
• A Bypass function has been added to the parameter based (not touch-controlled) effects.
  When a parameter based effect is selected (non touch-controlled) the effect can be bypassed by pressing the HOLD button. This is a great way to audition your effect.
• The cue balance curve has been adjusted for more consistent monitoring.
  To improve cue monitoring, the level balance curve of CUE and MASTER for the MONITOR BAL knob has been changed so that the CUE and MASTER volume levels reach the maximum level when the knob is centered.
• A MONITOR FILTER has been added
  A MONITOR FILTER setting page has been added to the SETUP/SYSTEM menu. When the MONITOR FILTER is ON, the high notes and super deep notes of the headphone output are cut by the filter. This makes monitoring via the headphones easy in loud locations like a DJ setup. Furthermore, the SETUP/SYSTEM page layout has been changed to accommodate the addition of the MONITOR FILTER.
