Musik Messe 2008 - Mixvibes

Het was de laatste tijd nogal naadje met Mixvibes, en dan doel ik op het Nederlandse vlak. Eerst was er een NL importeur, die werd vervolgens zonder medeweten aan de kant geschoven om nu waarschijnlijk weer officieel en exclusief importeur te worden... het zijn en blijven fransozen en dat is nou eenmaal ***volk, ik heb het altijd al gezegd. Desalniettemin komen de beste mannen wel met 2 nieuwe stukjes software, althans nieuw...

Mixvibes 7 is gereleased en is eigenlijk niets meer dan een ge-update versie van 6 met een nieuwe skin, een paar nieuwe functies en een shitload aan bugfixes. Maar men komt ook met iets nieuws, genaamd Mixvibes Cross. Mixvibes cross is het nieuwe stukje software uit de stal van Mixvibes, het is multi OS compatible en alle onzinnige zooi is er uit gehaald. Daarnaast is de user interface flink aangepakt en ziet het geheel er nu al een stuk beter uit (ze winnen het naar mijn mening nog steeds niet van Traktor maar ach das een ander verhaal). Daarnaast is het geheel (en met name de audio engine) vanaf 0 herschreven. Het geheel zou dus beter aan moeten sluiten op de hedendaagse behoeften van de dj. Op dit moment is er alleen nog maar een LE versie geprsenteert welke geschikt is voor het gebruik met een midi controller, een tijdcode versie word naar verwachting op de DJ Expo in augustus gepresenteerd.

Mixvibes cross
MixVibes presents CROSS, a cutting edge cross platform, cross technology DJ software. Rewritten from scratch, this new release brings MixVibes’ know how and experience to Mac OSX, Linux and - of course - XP and VISTA users. What’s a DJ without hot tracks? The first aim of CROSS is not to add complex features but to reintegrate the DJ’s music as the centerpiece of his performance. CROSS introduces an intuitive advanced media management system: full iTunes integration, multiple tag edit, artwork browsing, smart media preview, missing media manager, multiple playlist visualization. The endless possibilities to browse, locate, filter, edit and classify your media bring DJs evermore closer to their performance and their audience!

An intuitive interface combined to a high-end audio engine are the core of CROSS’ build. To make the DJs job painless the interface displays all the standard professional DJ tools in the places you would expect to find them: manual and autoloops, BPM analyzer, BPM matcher and locators are easily visible and editable. Moreover a set of laptop stickers makes it easy and fast to configure up to 88 keyboard shortcuts and a mix in standalone mode.

Mixvibes CROSS brings an answer to all the DJs who are concerned with the loss of sound quality induced by the widespread of digital sound. On the interface side, a “summary” tab displays a detailed overview of the media encoding quality. Last but not least, the Z-plane master tempo technology allows +/- 20 BPM variations with virtually no sound distortion, while the exclusive hybrid mode insures a smart transition between Master tempo and Speed mode to avoid digital distortion at extreme pitch values. DJing various styles and BPMs without compromising on sound quality becomes fun and easy! Ensuring crystal clear sound rendering, simplifying media browsing and offering intuitive features that’s what MixVibes’ CROSS is all about, so the DJ can focus on his audience and performance.

Presenting the LE version at Musik MESSE with a VCI-100 controller, expect to see more features implemented in the next few weeks, the presentation of our vinyl/CD version is scheduled for DJ Expo in August 08.

Van Mixvibes 6 is ook een nieuwe versie uit, en deze is omgedoopt tot versie nummer 7, er zijn een aantal nieuwe functies en Mixvibes heeft ook maar besloten het geheel nog onoverzichtelijker te maken door het op te splitsen in nog meer pakketten dan men al had. Voorlopig is er nog 0,0 beschikbaar van alle versies maar er komt straks een home versie, een club dj versie, een club dj pack versie, een producer versie. Allemaal bevatten ze (op de home versie na) een setje tijdcode vinyls en cd's en hou je vast... een setje stickers.

Voorlopig loop ik nog niet warm voor Mixvibes, als ik zo hoor hoe ze lopen te kloten met het importeurschap en met bepaalde dingen omgaan geloof ik niet zo in de continuïteit van het bedrijf zelf en mag men eerst eens laten zien dat al deze nieuwe likjes verf ook daadwerkelijk een toegevoegde waarde hebben.
