SSL support voor de DN-HC4500 van Denon

Sommigen vonden het groot nieuws, ik vind het persoonlijk niets meer dan een mededeling. Rane's Serato scratch live ondersteund namelijk de DN-HC4500 van Denon en vanaf heden is het dus mogelijk de HC4500 te gebruiken met SSL. Er is alleen 1 maar, ondersteuning vind alleen nog maar plaats in de beta versie EN volledige native support komt in Januari 2008.

Daarnaast hebben de gewone DN-HC4500 gebruikers vrij weinig aan dit nieuws aangezien je toch echt de SSL hardware nodig hebt om het programma te kunnen draaien. Wat ik daarnaast niet snap is de toevoeging van een controller als de HC4500 in een tijdcode vinyl setup, voordeel ervan is wel dat Serato nu eindelijk met goede midi ondersteuning lijkt te komen.

Serato supports Denon DN-HC4500
Denon DJ, a leading manufacturer of reliable, premium-grade DJ equipment, today unveiled that its breakthrough Model DN-HC4500 USB MIDI/Audio Interface & Controller, the company’s first USB MIDI & Audio interface designed exclusively for computer performance, will be natively supported as a USB controller for Serato’s Scratch LIVE, the revolutionary software that allows DJs to control digital audio files on their laptop with vinyl control records on their turntables. This announcement comes hot on the heels of recently released 1.8.0 public beta version, which offers such features as MIDI mapping, Off-Line Player, Auto Looping, and AAC file support to name a few.

The DN-HC4500 connects to a computer running Scratch LIVE via USB, all playback and other controls are transmitted over USB MIDI. This means that Scratch LIVE receives the control information directly from DN-HC4500. DJs have access to browsing and loading tracks from the DN-HC4500 and song information such as song title and artist are sent from Scratch LIVE to the DN-HC4500’s display screens.

For total flexibility in the field, the Denon DN-HC4500 offers support of both PC and Mac platforms, and features internal 24-Bit Processing & USB Audio. Among the DN-HC4500’s other advanced features is a Multi Functional Touch Sensitive Jog Disc constructed with an ultra high-resolution pulse and touch sensor to accurately reproduce the most subtle or swift scratching movements made by the human hand. Highly responsive soft rubber buttons, switches and knobs, plus 5 easily accessible function keys at top of each deck add to the DN-HC4500’s ease-of-use and utility, and 45mm pitch sliders are capable of providing deep resolution or wide pitch ranges.

Voor de mensen zonder Serato is het dus nog even afwachten welke software er nog meer gaat komen met ondersteuning voor de DN-HC4500. Gezien het feit dat PCDJ zijn Reflex software nog steeds niet af heeft en gebruikers dus nog geen volledige versie kunnen bestellen is dit een mooie gelegenheid voor andere software bouwers om potentiele PCDJ gebruikers te lokken naar andere software. Zoals de geruchten nu zijn zal VirtualDJ binnenkort met een volledige native ondersteuning komen en zal ook Traktor niet al te lang op zich laten wachten.
