Nieuwe software voor timecode dj's

Ik kwam vandaag tijdens de dagelijkse ronde langs alle collega websites de volgende 2 nieuwe stukjes software tegen op de website van skratchworx. Nu is nieuwe software niets nieuws maar software voor Linux en een 4 decks stukje software zijn dat dan wel weer (alhoewel Traktor ook gewoon 4 decks ondersteund).

De eerste is xwax, deze software draait op Linux. Sommige fanboys zweren bij een Linux systeem als het veiligste en stabielste systeem op aarde. Allemaal leuk en aardig natuurlijk maar daar heeft de gemiddelde dj natuurlijk vrij weinig aan aangezien zo'n beetje alle dj software alleen op de pc of mac draait. Nu is daar dus een oplossing voor en je kunt nog gewoon aan de slag met je tijdcode vinyls ook.

Alleen 1 nadeel.... het ziet er echt heel erg 1984 uit dus voor de looks hoef je het systeem niet te installeren ;-)

XWAX
xwax is vinyl emulation software for Linux. It allows DJs and turntablists to playback digital audio files (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC and more), controlled using a normal pair of turntables via timecoded vinyls.

It's designed for both beat mixing and scratch mixing. Needle drops, pitch changes, scratching, spinbacks and rewinds are all supported, and feel just like the audio is pressed onto the vinyl itself. The focus is on an accurate vinyl feel which is efficient, stable and fast.


System requirements

• PC/laptop with Linux operating system
• Stereo audio interface, and pre-amplifier — one set for each 'deck'
• Scratch Live timecode vinyls — one for each 'deck'
• libSDL (supplied as standard with most modern Linux distributions)
• Audio decoders (see below)
• Modest CPU, Pentium III 600 or faster (more the better)
• Lots of RAM, typically 512Mb or more

Dan nog een ander systeem wat alles behalve uit blinkt in overzichtelijkheid maar een gebruiker wel in staat stelt om met 4 decks te werken (sommige mensen denken dat ze daar beter van worden ;-) ) terwijl je maar beschikt over 1 draaitafel. Ook hier kun je weer aan de slag met tijdcode vinyl echter zit je wel vast aan de vinyls van Quad (makers van het geheel).

Quad
Quad is a Vinyl-controlled MP3 Mixing and Scratching Software. It allows connecting 1or up to 4 (!) turntables to your PC using Windows XP or Windows 2000. You just need to supply an ASIO soundcard with Phono Inputs (1 Stereo In per Deck) or Line In's (with Phono Preamp). The scratching quality and response are exceptional.

System requirements

• an Intel-Based PC or Laptop with at least 256MB RAM and 1GHz. A better system is recommended, though.
• a USB/FireWire soundcard with ASIO Driver and with at least 1 Stereo Phono Input and at least 2 Stereo Line Outputs (read further for a list of soundcards). You may also use Line Input-only soundcards using external Phono Preamps or using turntables with Line Outputs.
• at least 1 DJ Turntable (Although Quad may be tested in DEMO MODE without turntables)
