Numark’s MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion are both powerful, multifaceted mixing/sequencing applications that empower DJs and producers to mix up to eight songs simultaneously with powerful on-board capabilities, as well as expand user options by connecting to a wide range of MIDI hardware controllers.
Up until now, software for digital DJs merely approximated the functions of CD decks or turntables. Numark’s MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion both leap over this outdated format in favor of a more powerful vertical interface and approach. Both allow for an entire DJ set to be constructed and produced on-screen – aided by visual waveforms – for the most precise beat-matching possible. With a workflow similar to DAW (digital audio workstation) or video production software, MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion both let DJs and producers blend digital tracks using timelines. As a result, reordering and remixing is a snap, and DJs can mix and blend knowing that the final mix will remain ultra-stable in playback and also in perfect sync.
By automating most beat-mixing tasks, MixMeister users are now free to experiment more creatively, allowing them to expand into remixing and even producing instead of merely mixing and blending. DJs can layer songs, loops, acappellas or sound effects and leave the rest to MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion. If a DJ wishes to bypass the automatic mixing feature, manual beat-matching is always possible.
In addition to powerful mixing abilities (which also include harmonic mixing), MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion are both multifaceted DJ sequencers, featuring intelligent looping buttons (for 1, 2, 4 or 8 measures) and the ability to overlay samples and sound effects. DJs can work on multiple mixes simultaneously, cutting and pasting from mix to mix. For an even wider array of sonic options, MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion both come bundled with an array of top-notch VST effects, including iZotope's OzoneMP, Camel Audio's CamelSpace, and NewBlue's DJ Essentials suite.
MixMeister mixes can be fully programmed in advance of live playback, and DJs can then manipulate mixes on-the-fly, cueing via multi-channel audio cards and making adjustments to tempo, volume and EQ as a set takes shape. Additional MixMeister Fusion features include the ability to preview any part of a DJ’s mix on headphones, ultra-stable “perform mode” playback, an optimized “live performance” toolbar, wireless remote control of mixes and the ability for DJs to manually beat-mix with external audio sources.
MixMeister Studio and MixMeister Fusion record all of a DJ’s actions, not just the final audio output, allowing for a DJ to use the Tweak feature to reconfigure a mix in multiple ways, each time using studio-style editing capabilities. Once the final mix is done, it can be exported as an MP3 or burned to a CD using the software’s integrated burning tools.
