Serato teams up with Pioneer

Serato and Pioneer set new standards in DJ hardware and software communication
Serato and Pioneer, two of the world’s leading developers of DJ technology, come together to bring you seamless integration between Serato Scratch Live software and the new Pioneer CDJ Digital Media Players.
Sam Gribben, General Manager of Serato Audio Research, says of the collaboration “The tightest integration is achieved with co-engineered hardware and software, and we are very pleased to have worked so closely with Pioneer to make this a reality. For the first time, DJs can enjoy the flexibility of software and a rich hardware display right at their fingertips. We’re proud to add Pioneer’s new CDJs to our range of Official Serato Accessories”.
Through simple plug-and-play connection, DJs are given the familiar Pioneer CDJ user experience and access to the library and performance features of the world’s most popular DJ software, Serato Scratch Live. This allows you to switch between the software and CDJ mode with the same controls available, for a seamless user experience.
Once a CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 is connected to a system with official Rane hardware running Scratch Live software, the Serato music library and track information is instantly browsable with the CDJ’s color screen and dedicated hardware controls. This includes tracks, crates, full color album artwork (CDJ-2000 only), track overviews and cue/loop points, which allows DJs to concentrate more on their performance, and less on their computer screen.
Serato Scratch Live version 2.1 will support the Pioneer CDJ2000 and CDJ900, and is scheduled for release in Quarter 3 of 2010. This will be available as a free download from www.serato.com. The Version 03.10 firmware update for the Pioneer CDJ2000 and CDJ900 adds the new hardware features to integrate with Serato Scratch Live 2.1, and is scheduled for release on July 12, 2010 as a free download available from www.pioneerdj.com.
